It’s that time of year again… The Semi Finals are out of the way, and we’re only down to 2 teams left!
In a heated rematch of last years final… we have another BRUINS vs REW WINGS matchup!
The Stanley Cup is in the building, and the barn in The Point is packed… it’s Finals Night🍻
Slow start to the game with a few shots getting sent each way, with nobody figuring out how to get their team on the board… Until late season pick up Mike Haley got the puck on his stick and sniped a shot past Gratton to put the Wings up 1-0. It wasn’t too soon after that, that Joel Hoadley got the puck on his stick, seeking some revenge he plotted one in the net to get the Bruins on the board, and getting the game to 1-1. The Red Wing’s Kenny Bernard was able to put 2 more in the net by the end of the 1st period, putting the Wings up 3-1.
2nd period was interesting… Bruinsplayer Darcy Vink scored a quick one, getting the score to a reachable 3-2. Some pushing and shoving by Easter & Pavli put a fire under the Bruins ass and within the span less that 2 minutes the score became 5-3 for the Bruins heading into the flood.
The 3rd period brought a lot of tense back and forth hockey… Nearing the end of the game the Red wings, in one last ditch effort, pulled their net to get an extra attacker but it was little too late & the Bruins were able to get the puck on sharpe shooter Rodney Richard’s stick, to put the icing on the cake. Making their mark on the Original 6, the Bruins were able to defend their 2024 title, anding another slot on the coveted Stanley Cup to the Bruins legacy.
Thanks for the year boys!
MVP of the league goes to the Original 6 Superfan & Bruins Alumni Warren Shultz, who hardly missed a Bruin’s game all year🏆

Ladies & Gentlemen, it’s that one night of they year where every fan is in the building… it’s the Finals!!
The Red Wings got off to a quick got putting the pressure on and getting pucks to the net, with Travis McArtle capitalizing on a rebound, batting in the loose puck to make it 1-0 for the Wings. Just a few minutes later Kenny Bernard started to turn on the jets and got 2 back to back beauty goals to extend the lead to 3-0. The pace of play stayed steady until the 4th goal was scored by James “Fast Eddy” Edger. At the one minute mark, Boston’s Brian Quinn answered back with a hell of a snap shot from the slot to get the game to 4-1 to end the 1st.
As the second period started, less than a minute in, “Fast Eddy” got his mits on a rebound from Connor McCormick and tapped it in to make it 5-1. At the 11 minutes mark Jason Polera got his hands on the puck at the blue line, took a look and fired it looking like a shot, but found Matt Kreeft stick out front and tipped in the puck to get the game to 5-2. The next 11 minutes played out uneventfully, and we’re headed to a flood!
The 3rd Period started off at a fast pace, Boston showed that they weren’t going down without a fight, tossing everything on net… finally Nathan Ansel shot from the point finds the back of the Red Wings net to make it 5-3. Jeff Sauve took a tripping penalty, but the Bruins were determined to kill it off, and after a quick 3 minutes they were back to even strength. Shortly after the Bruins return to full strength Polera had a beautiful no look pass to send Gould in on a breakaway, Gratton made a great stretch save to keep it 5-3. Ansel then scored his second of the game to make 5-4. The Bruins in dire need of a goal, pulled their goalie late in the third period with the hope they could get that perfect shot to send the game to overtime… well… isn’t that what they did!!! Rodney Richard went bar down to get the game to 5-5, and 30 seconds later we’re heading to sudden death overtime!
15 minutes was tossed on the clock and away we went. Just over 5 minutes into our 4th period Nathan Ansel picked off the puck at his defensive blue line, and fed Brian Quinn for a breakaway that he sent into the back of the net… making the Bruins your 2023/2024 Original 6 Champions!
Great year boys, can’t wait to see everyone next year😎🍻

Ladies & Gentlemen, it’s the night everyone’s been waiting for… The Finals!
The Monk St Barn was packed with fans, and once again the highly coveted Original 6 Stanley Cup was in the building waiting for its new home!
In this one, the first place Chicago Blackhawks were taking on the third place Detroit Red Wings in what is anticipated to be one of, it not the quickest hockey game of the year!
The boys didn’t disappoint, starting the game out at a relentless pace. Just over 5 minutes into the game, Pat Sutton took a wide angled shot from the corner to put the Red Wings up 1-0. It didn’t seem like Ozzie Murphy was a fan of that one, because less than a minute later he took things into his own hands, and pulled off a wild dangle to get the game tied at 1 a piece. The pace stayed steady and pucks started flying, one of those pucks that was shot by Ozzie trickled past Gratton to put the Blackhawks ahead 2-1. And just like that the first 20 minutes were over and done with.
Onto the 2nd period, where the game took a bit of a turn for the worse and Red Wings player James Edger was assessed a Major for an Elbow to Blackhawks player Lee Worsley (served by Seth Lippiatt). The Blackhawks we’re going to try and pull ahead with the now 7 minute power play but the Red Wings had other plans, playing stellar defence and holding the Blackhawks to only 1 goal(scored by Ryan Cross) in that 7 minute span.
After a bit of a strategic blood clean up, and a solid flood done by one of Point Edward’s finest, the boys were ready to figure out a who’s name was going on The Cup. Just after the 3rd Period started, The Blackhawks pocketed 2 quick ones from Jamie Fraser & Mike VanSickle putting the Hawks up 5-1. The Red Wings weren’t going down without a fight, and quickly answered with a nice goal by Trevor Bennett(5-2).
While killing a penalty, Jamie Fraser found a pocket in the top right corner to put the Hawks ahead 6-2. With time winding down, Red Wings player Conor McCormick put one in the net to get us into “stop time” but the Red Wings boys said that they had seen enough, and that was about it for the night, signalling to run out the clock.
Which means your 2022/2023 Original 6 Champion’s are The Chicago Blackhawks!
Congrats boys! See everyone in October🍻

Boston Bruins(1) vs Red Wings(3)
The highly coveted Original 6 Stanley Cup is in the building for this heated finals matchup!
First bit of action of the game leads to coincidental penalties being called on the Bruins #14 Dan Thompson for Hooking & the Red Wings #21 Blake Person for Holding. After a lengthy wait for a whistle, the boys went back out ready to go for the next shift.
The Red Wings open up the scoring at the 9:50 mark in the 1st period with #24 Seth Lippiatt scoring a nice one, assisted by #14 Paul Melton & #10 Pat Sutton.
At the 7:12 still left in the first, Blake Person wound up for a bomb of a slap shot and was sent back to the box for another 3 minute’r.
Just before the end of the period with 1:45 left, the Bruins make things interesting with #9 Rodney Richard popping one in the back of the net with assists from #14 Dan Thompson & #7 Jeff Sauve.
1-1 heading into the 2nd, and the Bruins started out hot getting quick back to back goals, first was a sweet goal from #5 Shawn Grondin assisted by #14 Dan Thompson & #9 Rodney Richard. The second goal was put in by #22 Jason Polera with an apple from #39 Jason Grenier.
With 5:50 left in the 2nd a play near the net ends in #1 Brad Forbes(G) received a tripping penalty, served by his teammate #3 Brandon Palmer.
Just like that we’re headed for a flood with the Bruins up 3-1!
The flood must have done some of the guys well, because right off the hop the Bruins #9 Rodney Richard pockets a nice goal assisted by #29 Jeff Gould & the assist machine #14 Dan Thompson.
After a couple of hard fought minutes at the 18:35 mark #12 Trevor Bennett picks up a hooking penalty, Bruins weren’t able to capitalize.
10 more hard fought minutes passed, multiple scoring chances but the goalies were shutting everyone down!
The Red Wings #24 Seth Lippiatt took a Holding penalties at 8:52 left in the 3rd, it wasn’t for a lack of shots but the Bruins weren’t able to pop one in during the power play.
In a desperation attempt the Red Wings pulled their goalie with just over 3 and a half minutes to go to attempt the comeback! But the Bruins #9 Rodney Richard had his eyes set on the hattick, and after a nice pass up from #3 Brandon Palmer to #22 Jason Polera, the puck was on his stick crossing the blue line without anyone standing in his way, he sent a nice and easy pass into the back of the Red Wings net to put the Bruins up 5-1. Jeff Sauve took a hooking penalty with 0:50 left, and the boys called it a night.
Congrats to the Bruins & Red Wings on making to the Finals!
We can officially say The Bruins are your 2021/2022 Original 6 Champions!
Great year boys, can’t wait to see everyone next year😎👍
